RUMC Care Ministry
Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Romans 12:13 (NIV)
The Care Ministry Team cares for our congregation in many ways and plays an important role in the life of the church.
Here are some of the ways the Care Ministry serves the people of our church:
- Provide meals after someone has surgery or other health issue.
- Provide transportation to people who need to get to their appointments.
- Visit those who are in the hospital or are in care facilities.
- Deliver “Love Baskets” to people after they come home from a hospital stay.
- Deliver Communion elements to those who are unable to get to church.
- Deliver welcoming bread to our worship visitors.
- Take care of household tasks for those who are unable to do for themselves.
- Provide pet support.
During this past year, the Care Ministry Team provided some specific acts of kindness to our congregation by :
Delivering more than 40 Valentine’s Day cookie bags;
Someone picked flowers from her own garden to deliver bouquets to church residents at a local care facility;
A church member delivered flower arrangements to some of our home bound folks.
The team also consists of some special people who have their own ways of caring for others:
Nancy sends an average of 20-25 cards a month to offer words of sympathy, encouragement, thinking of you and hopes of getting well soon.
Jan makes phone calls to encourage folks and to make sure they are doing ok.
Lee would bring her dog to visit people to brighten their day. And when this special friend passed away, she now offers support to those who have lost a pet of their own.
