North Kent Connect

North Kent Connect (NKC) is a community resource for people seeking help and moving their lives forward. A Christian organization celebrating 50 years this year, it was founded by local clergy.  NKC seeks to improve the lives of all people in northern Kent County in two ways: 1. to provide access to basic needs and 2. to promote economic independence.  The cities they service include Sparta, Kent City, Rockford, Belmont, Cedar Springs and Sand Lake.   NKC offers clients a pantry with free food and personal care items, utility assistance, trained social workers, mental health counseling, and more. The Thrive program empowers women to become financially independent. Educational classes (budgeting, parenting, basic plumbing, etc.), job searching with West Michigan Works, farm stand and thrift store (offering high quality and affordable items) are all open to the general public.  All farm stand and thrift store proceeds stay local, helping the families at NKC.

Folks attending Sunday worship services at Rockford UMC can bring in donations which will go to North Kent Connect.  There is a barrel in the Community Room to collect non perishable food and personal care items.  We have another barrel to collect clothing of all types and sizes.  Please be sure the clothes are not wet/mildewed, smoky or covered in pet hair, thank you.  The Community Room is accessible from the worship entrance.  Non food, personal care or clothes items should be brought directly to North Kent Connect.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
