A Note from Debby:

Dear Parents,

I am extremely excited about the upcoming year for your child. I pray you are just as enthused as I am! I thought it would be fitting if I gave you a little bit of information about me as I begin my second year here as your child’s Youth Director.

I have been a member of the RUMC family since June 1996! I vividly remember the vows I took on that particular Sunday during my introduction to the congregation. I promised to give of my time, talents, financial gifts, and prayers. I took these vows quite seriously, as I still do today!

Within a few months, I began to volunteer every week — teaching the younger children in our Sunday School program. I did this for nearly five years. When my three boys entered their high school years, I began to dedicate my time to their activities.

I value the opportunities RUMC provided for my sons’ spiritual growth and development. Even after my youngest son graduated, I still felt called by God to continue to be a part of the lives of our church youth. I know I have made a difference.

It is amazing to watch our youth grow in their relationship with Christ! Thank you for your involvement in our church family. I am looking forward to partnering with you in the spiritual life of your child! If at any time you need to reach me, please feel free to contact me at the church, by email, or via text.

Sunday School  (Sept – May)

Sunday School is offered for students in grades 6-12 from 10:00 – 10:50 am during the school year.  Students each explore various areas of the Bible discussion, video and activities.

SENIOR HIGH SUNDAY SCHOOL YOUTH will begin a new class on SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 5 in the Wesley Room. Find out who God has actually created you to BE!

1. Be Yourself: Teens will learn that their identity isn’t wrapped up in what the world says. Rachel covers contentment and the truth money itself isn’t evil. This lesson also emphasizes it’s not about how much money you have, but rather what you do with money that matters.

2. Be Realistic: Today’s teens are drowning in advertising and hit with peer pressure all day every day. In this lesson, students learn how to fight these pressures—and win. The concepts of debt and net worth are also introduced, along with the question of whether or not it’s okay to have nice things.

3. Be Aware: Teens face a lot of money myths: My parents will always take care of me. One day, I’ll have as much money as my parents do now. Teens don’t need to budget. Money isn’t spiritual. I shouldn’t give if I don’t have money. This lesson debunks these myths and gives students a new mindset for their money
