A Note from Debby:

Dear Parents,

I am extremely excited about the upcoming year for your child. I pray you are just as enthused as I am! I thought it would be fitting if I gave you a little bit of information about me as I begin my second year here as your child’s Youth Director.

I have been a member of the RUMC family since June 1996! I vividly remember the vows I took on that particular Sunday during my introduction to the congregation. I promised to give of my time, talents, financial gifts, and prayers. I took these vows quite seriously, as I still do today!

Within a few months, I began to volunteer every week — teaching the younger children in our Sunday School program. I did this for nearly five years. When my three boys entered their high school years, I began to dedicate my time to their activities.

I value the opportunities RUMC provided for my sons’ spiritual growth and development. Even after my youngest son graduated, I still felt called by God to continue to be a part of the lives of our church youth. I know I have made a difference.

It is amazing to watch our youth grow in their relationship with Christ! Thank you for your involvement in our church family. I am looking forward to partnering with you in the spiritual life of your child! If at any time you need to reach me, please feel free to contact me at the church, by email, or via text.

Wednesday Night Programs  (Sept – May)

Our Wednesday night programs and dinner will begin on Wednesday, SEPTEMBER  20TH.

Opportunities for students:

Silver Ring Thing is a live event for youth, to be held on Sunday, October 15, from 5:15-8:15 pm at Three Mile Project in Grand Rapids. It is a “radical response to culture’s casual view of love and relationships. This is a challenge to live boldly and set apart from the celebration of immorality all around us. SRT defies the meet-up, hook-up, break-up mindset of today and inspires students to a pure life centered in Jesus Christ.” A special parent session will be held from 6-6:45 pmParents are strongly encouraged to attend this session!  The cost of tickets are $6 online or $8 at the door. Please RSVP to Debby Seagle  as soon as possible!  EVEN IF YOU HAVE ATTENDED IN THE PAST, WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO COME AGAIN THIS YEAR  TO SUPPORT  NEWCOMERS AND TO BE REMINDED OF  WHO YOU ARE IN CHRIST!

If you enjoy making a beautiful noise you can join either our Hand Bell Choir or our Chancel Choir. It is open to adults and students starting at 9th grade. Practice is Wednesday evenings and the Chancel Choir sings at most Sunday 8:45 services, and the Hand Bell Choir plays a handful of times throughout the year. Contact Val, our Music Director, at 616-866-9515.
